Tracking is SO helpful!

OMG you guys it is only day 2 of my RE-ENERGIZE campaign and I already feel so much better (mentally) just because I am tracking my food again! It is SUPER easy to do with the Spark iPhone app - MUCH easier than it was the first time I did all the tracking, when there was no iPhone app yet. AND, just the act of tracking is helping me get back in control, i.e. eating at regular times, REAL FOOD not just a couple of crackers and some sardines! AND, it is forcing me to PLAN meals and make sure I am getting PLENTY of freggies. Which I am SO BAD at. I really like food that I can just take out and eat and I have FORCED myself to cut up some veggies and have them in the fridge so I can just take them out and snack. Which really helps.

I'm quite confident now after only two days of tracking that I was probably eating WAY under my calorie range. How can I tell? Because I am SO FULL! Crazy how much food I am eating now that I am actually, well, you know, eating actual meals. It is so strange to me how my relationship with food has changed so much over the years. For the longest time I was such an emotional eater; chips and fast food was my go-to, which of course led to me putting on all the weight. Then when I slowly started learning about eating food right - and about emotional eating - I quit doing that and I was able to engage with food in a very healthy way and that was when I got down to my current healthy weight (although of course I always say I could lose another 5 pounds but ANYWAY). And NOW if I don't pay attention I have this weird tendency to NOT eat. It's probably been 2 years since I tracked and I think I just got sort of absentminded about food. I never, EVER thought that THAT would be a problem for me - although it is probably just a flip side of the same coin!

ANYWAY. Now that I know what the problem is I am quite confident that tracking a while will get me back into a clear mindset. What a great tool tracking is, I am so happy that I have started tracking again. It makes it so easy to see exactly what you are doing!

    I found my calorie allowance was too little so I re-entered the numbers and SP upped it I've already lost 3 lbs !! Tracking and eating the right amount is a science. emoticon

    I've also started tracking again because I thought I was maybe not eating enough (leading me to eat junk food for the calories but it comes across as a craving). Well, I was right! Not enough good foods. Funny how that happens when once I had an overeating problem...

    The right fuel is a tricky mix and a key part of great workouts. Tracking can help find the balance as well as set potion sizes. It's a pretty powerful tool!!
