Thoughts, Part 2

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

1: Realized that I took the elevator this morning, first time I hadn’t climbed the stairs up to the 5th floor. I owe myself 76 steps somewhere.

2: This edition’s title refers to the Spock’s Beard song of that name, which occurred to me to use due to the fact that I’m taking a first listen to that band’s new album, “Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep”. This is their first album to feature Ted Leonard as frontman, and Jimmy Keegan as an official member of the band on drums. Really liking what I hear!

3: Speaking of exciting new music, the new Queensrÿche song, Redemption, was debuted the other day. Now, when I talk about Queensrÿche, I’m speaking of the Wilton/Rockenfeld/Jackson band fronted by Todd La Tourre, rather than the Geoff Tate and the hired guns version. Pretty much every time Tate opens his mouth, I go further into the other camp.

Although, I thought I’d revisit the last Queensrÿche album, Dedicated to Chaos, and, uh, it’s not as outright horrible as I thought it was a couple of years ago. The new La Tourre fronted song is what I want from Queensrÿche, and I’m absolutely on board with that version keeping the name and continuing the great work that band has done over the first half of its career. But…maybe I will listen to what Tate has to offer…and that thought is a huge step forward from where I have been over the past 6 months.

4: When did it get to 4 PM, anyway? When I got back from lunch at 12:30ish, I was thinking the afternoon would be interminable. And now its terminus is in sight. Another couple hours of poking around, and back to the hotel where I suspect sleep will be near. Well, near, after the end of the USA-Mexico World Cup qualifier. Let’s see if we can get any sort of result in a competitive match at Azteca.

5: Mucking around, scaring up a couple of errors, remembering how to do/find/set a few things in the system. A decent feeling, that.

6: Rounding up from 5:45 PM, if there are no objections? Going to try and make a point of doing some semblance of exercise tonight. Though tiredness may rule the head right now, maybe food will make some difference. Maybe I’ll use the fitness room while the soccer game is on, there’s a thought.

It's hard to get a good grip on the day when you start out in such a rough way. I think a small workout might make you feel accomplished. Though it you are still really tired, you might want to rest more to avoid a repeat of this morning. Just be sure to listen to your body and go with what is best for you.
