No tracking, got sick, gained 5 pounds

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

I stopped tracking two weeks ago. The first week I was still doing okay with portion sizes and proper choices. I was kind of sick then, but the second week I gave illness a free for all and even brought out the Easter candy.

That equals 5 pounds gained.

I'm still not going to track today, but I will be more mindful of my choices. I have plenty of fruits and veggies. I am able to stand a little longer today, but am still prone to dizziness because of the liquid in my head (especially the ears). If nothing clears up in a couple of weeks I'll have to see my doctor, if everything clears up, I'll still see my doctor. I'm just tired of having to say "what" to everyone because they mumble into my injured ear.

The other part of the weight gain is that I haven't been able to move much. Mom was surprised I moved for 5000 steps the other day and that was only because I went out to do some shopping, mostly leaning on a cart.

The weather is finally starting to improve. I'm starting to see grass and roofs again. The roof on the garage that I can see has about half it's snow melted off it's roof already. The low part of the path in the park is really flooded. The ducks are back and I saw a robin the other day, perched on the tree outside my window just looking at me.

I may actually start to be able to open windows soon! I heard something about 50 degrees this weekend! I had the kids help start cleaning the house. The carpet is clean thanks to my son and dishes have been kept up with a little because of my daughter. I may have to have them do more cleaning today between science experiments.

Here's to a better week full of healing and good food choices!

I had to laugh a little - are you designing these "science experiments"? Wouldn't that be a cool way to get the kids to do more around the house?!
I know that my own husband has been sick with this crud for nearly two weeks now. I hope you are indeed feeling more like yourself and that the weather is warming up. Hang in there!

Sorry to hear that you ear is still a big problem and causing dizziness for you. The liquid in the ear is not a good situation----hope you start feeling better real soon. Glad to hear you are able to stand a bit longer again,, hope that is a sign of this coming to a close for you.

There have been several of us in the same boat - get sick, eat and gain. For me it was 3 pounds, but once you're feeling better and back to normal tracking and exercise, the weight will disappear.
Hoping for spring here too. We had to cancel our Easter egg hunt because it was snowing - in VA - on Palm Sunday. Yikes!

emoticon I know how frustrating it can be to be sick when you're used to being very physically active. Hope you get back to 100% soon especially now that the weather is warming up in your part of the country. Glad to hear that your kids are able to pick up some of the housekeeping chores :)

    Take care, my friend emoticon

It's good that you know what happened. Terrible that you still aren't feeling up to snuff. Hope that changes soon. Ear infections are terrible and mess you up in so many ways. So great your kids are pitching in and helping you out. Hope the healthy food choices help you recover sooner. emoticon
