Competing with my Mom again!

Those of you familiar with my blog entries will know that my mother and I try to encourage and support each other in our healthy lifestyles. We also compete goodnaturedly against each other, too, when we need a little boost to our motivation.

Our last "competition" was two summers ago:

Unfortunately, we didn't end up doing very well that time. I don't know what got in the way of our success, but we are nevertheless giving it a "go" again this year.

A few weeks ago, we decided to see if we could get closer to our weightloss goals before my cousin's wedding coming up this July 25. In England. The thought of travelling all that way for a wedding and not looking my best in the photos taken was a great motivator for me!

So far, I have lost 5.6 lbs. My mom is doing well also.

We have 17 weeks left. I am aiming to lose 1-2 pounds a week to be about halfway, or a little better, on my way to goal by then. My mother, who has half as much to lose, is aiming for 1 pound a week to be almost at goal by then.

    Sorry to read you put all the weight back on, but I do know it gets harder after memopause. Dotn blame yourself! But I do find once the weather warms up, it gets easier to lsoe when your active. (I at least did not put on more than 5 pounds this past winter and I hope to lose it) But as you put it on, you should try and take it off the same way. Slowly! Going without food is a mistake for it can create some false notions that you lost, but the body has a memory and if you lose too fast you can go into a =starvation mode and the bdoy thinsk ots starving and you get whiplash and put weight on! That yoyo affects is due to that starvation mode so eat steady and less but dont stop eating and stay on the same clock time you normally eat ,lie every 4 hours and be consistant with that and you will find it will stay off better and longer. Its how I am going off. (I lost a total of 1 pounds sicne I first started to lose, but its been up one down one, and you can gain it all back if you try to lose too fast! Stay slow and steady. Try and drink more water and eat smaller meals but eat the same foods. I find that alone will help. Also cayenne pepper and ginger helps a lot, because the cayenne will help raise the metabolism levels, and burn off the calories. Ginger will help your body NOT absorb FAT! (and I eat a lot of fatty foods, like coconut and nuts! So I know it helps stop the absorbing of the fats! Or I would be 300 pounds by now! Try it! ) I would say Good luck, but losing weight is more than just Luck! Its hard work! Knowing about your own limits is to be wise when you eat! ! I Hope you can lose the weight the healthy way! TRy keeping a journal of what you eat. Seeing it helps! And dont forget to have a little treat now and then, because if your body feels starved and stifled in joy, you can end up binging and thats worst than having a small dessert (and I do have one everyday, but am slowly getting away from having as much as I used to, so i am losing! ) But being Happy and rejoicefull in eating better, keeping G*ds temple healthier is my goal! Try it! when you see and know that, it is easier to eat better and lose ! Dont give up! Say, "I can do ALL things thru Christ who strengthens me! " Susana emoticon
