I want spring! I want sunshine!

Hello dear Sparkfriends!

I expected a grey hike, and it was grey. Very. You know I love my hikes, but today I struggled! I took way too long to get ready and only arrived in Trilport at 3.30pm. It was cold. And wet, by the river Marne. It was mostly flat, apart from the stairs to cross the bridge at the beginning...

Most of the time, it looked like winter...

... with only, from time to time, some signs of spring (thank goodness!)...

I passed by a farm which makes brie, the local cheese ('supermarket brie' is the worst cheese in my opinion, but the real thing is so creamy, so tasty... it is to die for!).

After 1 hour, shivering, a bit bored, I decided I had had enough! I turned and walked back! I know, I know... I shouldn’t have. But it wasn’t what I had hoped for.

And deep inside, I know what the problem is: I am sick of winter. It is officially spring but it feels like winter! I want flowers and I want sunshine. I am ordering it for Easter next weekend! :)

I am sorry, this is a disappointing blog, with poor pictures. I will leave you with one of my pictures from summer (yay!) I played with on Photoshop yesterday to add text on... I wanted to change the background on my laptop to remind me that summer will eventually arrive!

Thank you for reading! And thank you so much for all your lovely comments on my previous blog. I am sorry I couldn't answer all of you, there were too many! Have a beautiful week!

A two hour hike is nothing to feel bad about. You got out, you breathed fresh air, you experienced the countryside ... But, yes, it certainly is time for Spring!! I think your photos are lovely as ever.

Hi Claire, This is not a boring blog, I love pussy willows, also love your sign of summer. It has been the same here, dark and dreary and raining all day. Claire, I give you a lot of credit for even wandering out....its one of the days you like to stay inside and curl up with a book. I always look forward to reading about your adventures. Claire, I hope you have a wonderful week and make your own sunshine!! emoticon emoticon June

Your blogs are never boring. You can always find something of beauty and capture it for all of us to enjoy. I hear you about wanting Spring though, it is so cold here, still below freezing but we know Spring will come eventually.
The picture from the summer was gorgeous and a beautiful quote!
I hope you have much happiness inside of you and I know you have much success for sure!

Have a wonderful week and I am sending wishes for warmer sunnier weather to you and all our spark friends.

Please trust me...this is not a boring blog. I have jonquils blooming and we're expecting 3-6 " of snow before morning. I am booked to speak at 3 different women's retreats and singing at 3 other engagements. This should be the lovely Spring weather for conferences with women walking in the gardens and chatting among the blooms. Not this year....we'll be huddled around the heaters and wearing heavy underwear while our lips turn blue and our toes go numb!!! LOL...but mem'ries in the making are what it's all about.
What I enjoyed about your pics are theantiquity of the locations. The arch of the old bridge is an artist's dream. And the steps leading up the hill....oh, how amazing that they've stood the test of time and still draw the heart to follow them up and away. My home sits up over looking a grassy hill that is too steep to cut and I would LOVE to landscape it with stone steps. Not in this lifetime. Nothing at the bottom of the hill to go see anyway.
Keep walking and take notice of how many Sparkers are following your blogs. You have a gift. Keep using it! Blessings!!

Lovely photos. I love pussy willows!

I know. It gets hard not to feel whiny this time of year when spring is right around the corner but not bursting out. I keep trying to keep a sunny outlook, but there are times when the gray is so pervasive it's hard to feel positive.

    Come on spring!!!!

I LOVED your pictures, honestly, but I sure can understand turning around when you're cold and wet! Don't blame you @ all.

I do like the picture of the brie farm!

HUGS and here's to a good sparking week.

Don't apologize - I think you deserve a lot of credit for going out at all on such a miserable day. Personally I'm having a totally lazy day. Put my pyjama pants on with a t-shirt after I came home from church, thinking about doing exercises, but that's as far as I got. Peter and I watched the Formuna One race from Malaysia, then a NASCAR race from California, then a vintage car race that Peter had taped months ago, and now we're watching the 2-hour program on The Bible.

Love your picture of the pussy willows! In Peter's Ukrainian Catholic Church, instead of having Palm Sunday (which was today; his church follows the old calendar), they have Pussy Willow Sunday. Perhaps beause palms weren't available in the Ukraine, or perhaps beause pussy willows were usually out at that time of year.

Have a good week, lots of hugs,

Hey Claire, I love that Helen Keller quote, it's beautiful!
I hope Spring will reach you soon, over here in China (my small part of it anyway), Spring blossoms were so early that they're finished already, and most days are way too hot for the season... ;-) Tempted? ;-)
Wishing you a wonderful week and more sunshine for your next hike!

It may not have been a great hike but the photos were still lovely.

All good, you never disappoint! i kind of like grey days anyway, but there is something magical about crisp yet warm spring weather....soon, very soon, your Easter order will be fulfilled!

Thank you for bring us along on your walk/hike. The calendar may say Spring but the weather outside says late Winter. Still plenty of snow on the ground, the temps in the 30's (F) for the high of the day, the breezes have a definite BITE to them. Oh, this is in New Hampshire (one of the New England states) in the Northeast part of the U.S.A. note: I have been looking for 'Daffodil Season' since November. I like winter okay but I prefer Spring and Fall.... tend not to be too hot or too cold.
Sorry, got a little long winded there.
Please keep sharing your adventures with pictures and narratives.
    Thank you again,

C'est vrai, il est temps pour le printemps. It is cold and dreary here in Georgia too, gray, gray, gray and wet so it chills the bones. I thank you for the pussy willows, we loved them when we were growing up, I don't see real ones here.
I agree farm fresh brie is so much tastier.
    Hopefully Easter will be cheerier.
    Bonne semaine,

Spring here in southern New Mexico means high winds and lots of blowing dust, and it has arrived! No flowers, and a few green leaves showing up on trees but being blown down by the wind. This happens every year. I want flowers and warm sunshine and no winds, just a light breeze too! Hopefully it will get better for all of us soon.

It is the same here in the states--might even get snow tonight---been a gray and dismal and chilly day here. too---and the wind---I could stand the chill if not for the wind. And I still loved your pictures!

    Hi Claire,

You're not alone in struggling with no sun and Winter that just won't follow the calender! I like sun too, but I also like the overcast days like your pictures ( which I also enjoyed by the way! ). The landscape is just very different where I live. Hang in there, Summer and 90 degrees F will be here before you know it!!

    Have a great week,

Tried to wave from Ramsgate but France was hiding. Our day was cold and grey with some snow on sheltered spots. I'm sure when you get back to Africa you will have your fill of sunshine.
We used to say to our young son "If you just want it you can wait, if you need it we'll find a way to get it" so let's find a way to get you some sunshine!

Claire, I did enjoy reading your blog and I am sorry that you was disappointed. It was interesting seeing the farm that makes Brie cheese. In America, we bake the Brie and then use it as a sort of dip. I am sick of Winter also. We are getting 8" of snow today! Hard to believe that Easter is one week away. emoticon

I want Spring too! We had been having good weather for weeks (sunny and in the 70's) - I live in Texas. And then Friday a cold front came through and it has been cold - highs only in the 50's. It actually got down into the 30's last night! So I am definitely ready for Spring and a return of the 70's for Easter weekend!

I think you did great. Don't worry it is hard to walk when you are cold and bored. I loved the pictures. I loved the scenery.
