40 days later

Sunday, March 24, 2013

I had a goal to make it to the gym for 40 days in a row when I first started. Today was day 40 I'm just coming back from what I would call a lite workout. 40 min on the elliptical and 20 min of stretching. In the last 40 days I really pushed myself. Mon I do 70 min on the elliptical then do a chest workout on the weights, Tue I do 60 min on the elliptical I started out walking the steps for 5 min but now I can walk up and run down 4 flights of stairs for 20 min then I do some strength training for my legs and Abs. Wed is a repeat of Mon except I work on my back when I lift weights. Thu is a total repeat of Tue. Fri is a combination of Mon and Wed the cardio routine is the same except on the strength training I train both back and chest. Sat is 45 min on the elliptical then I strength train my shoulders, triceps, biceps. Sunday is just 30-45 min on the elliptical and my stair routine. I do 15-20 min of stretching after each workout. Working out is not knew to me I use to workout everyday before my accident. I was 200lbs and could easily bench press 500 lbs. I was surprised to find out after all these years I can still bench press almost 400lbs. I got that one over on my son he can do 375. I did tell him he was going to catch me sooner or later one way or the other, but not today lol. I was able to think about a lot of things while working out and one thing I had to admit was that the car accident is not the cause of all the weight gain. I put on 70 of these pds in the last 2 years. I realized I had let the whole change in my attitude about spiritual matters consume my time and self image. One of the Pastors I use to associate actually approached me at the gym one day and invited me to his office he said god wanted him to fix me. I just laughed and said I can fix myself. I have made peace with what I discovered during my research. If that disappoints some one or they can no longer be my friend I can respect that. Just as long as they respect my feeling on the subject. That being said I feel better just after 40 days inside and out. I see a huge change in my sleeping and eating habits. I have more energy and flexibility and I even lost 15lbs. My advice to anyone just starting out just stick with it 1 day at a time. I also want to thank all my emoticon S emoticon emoticon So now I'm looking foward to the next 40 days as for this 40 days emoticon emoticon emoticon
