Knowing good health without the scale

Saturday, March 23, 2013

Am I being healthy? Is the scale the only measure of whether or not my lifestyle has become healthier? Without filling myself with toxic foods, I feel so alive and healthy. I have interest in people and doing things other than eating.... Like walking, playing games like golf, talking to people, making new friends..... I just plain feel alive. A lot of depression has lifted with this healthy lifestyle and all the walking I am doing is a good influence on that. More people are in my life as well. I am sleeping better. These are all indicators that the new, healthy lifestyle is working quite well. Hooray!

I agree the scale is only a tool. I use the scale infrequently. I do not take the scale weight too seriously. Physical activity can shrink the pounds off, tone and strengthen our bodies. Which is more likely to add up to all the good things you do for you in mind body and spirit. Healthy choices and becoming aware of nutritional values, seems more likely the logical thing to do than following a strict diet.

I'm so glad to hear this! I've found the scale to be only *one* measure of good health and well-being, and I only "visit" it once a month. I've found my weight is more stable than ever as a result of my not weighing in, say, once a week or - at my worst - several times a day. That eating healthfully and exercising have made such great contributions to your sense of well-being and health is fantastic news! emoticon May that terrific sense of aliveness you've found only grow.

I know how you feel. I personally think the journey here is more about getting healthy than about losing weight. They do seem to work together but some people are able to lose weight without exercising and I can't believe they feel as good as those who tone the body with exercise while losing the weight. Just my opinion! emoticon

SO true !! We do tend to get hung up on the scale and there are so many different signs that we are getting healthy. thanks for the reminder and keep up the good work !
