That's what we found on our treasure hunt today. I've been walking with the kids. Even though I'm working the next few nights, I decided to get 'em up and out! It's almost 40 degrees outside, so really quite pleasant. We walked up and down the road and climbed hills, all the while me pushing the stroller and the tricycle that my two year old always insists she'll ride and doesn't.
Well, she does ride it until we get out of the radius of the house, when I can't just leave it behind.

Last year I was out with the kids every day for at least an hour and sometimes more than 5. It's good to start this up again, winter is hard with a baby, and MI winters are frigid!
And starting yesterday, I made the leap to give up pop. Huge step. I love my pop. LOVE! I soothed myself with diet, and because it's not that tasty, I don't mind drinking water instead.
So while I'm not exactly eating better, I'm not getting 2000 or more of those empty yummy sugar calories.
And I'm starting to think about quitting smoking. I tried once with Chantix, and might restart that. If I only take it for a few weeks, to get over that first hurdle.
Life is good, friends! Keep sparking!

As we were walking, my two year old said, "I'm really tired! we walk really far!" LOL. Guess she needs to build up strength too!

    Sounds great :) Its nice to get out and its a great example to the little ones. It really is amazing how many calories people consume just from liquids and they never even know it. I used to drink 32 or 44 ounce sodas and never think a thing about it. I also used to be a milk addict and just drink from the carton. I think it makes a HUGE difference. I do have a can or so of diet soda a day, and you get used to it as long as you drink ones that taste better. I really like Coke zero vanilla and wild cherry diet pepsi. Also, diet A&W is amazing too. You're right about water being better than diet sodas though. I only drink the diets because if I'm going to do soda, I might as well drink a can of diet soda. emoticon

    Sounds like you're doing well! Congrats on giving up soda, that's a huge step! Give yourself time to get used to that, then tackle the smoking. Contgrats on making some really healthy decisions both for yourself & your family!

    Sounds like a great day with your children! They will benefit from the exercise too! About the smoking, I would say any time you want to quit is great! I smoked for about two years, and I was able to quit at the same time with my boyfriend. It worked out well for us, because when one was feeling weak, the other was there right away "No, you don't need it". The first few weeks are the worst, but afterwards the intrinsic benefits come in. (Plus I've read somewhere that smoking makes your body hold onto fat some way or another.) So it may even help your weight loss goals!

    Do your best, no matter what you are doing!
