Small changes

Saturday, March 23, 2013

Yesterday was Friday yet again, it just seems that the week just flew by. I have focused on making small healthy changes in my life this week. I have made healthy choices all week, with the exception of eating 1/2 of a beef and bean burrito last night. I know that the only reason I was hungry is because I stayed up late to watch some television with my daughter. If I had gone to bed when my body felt tired, I never would have been tempted to eat that late. Lesson learned.

This week I lost 4 lbs. I feel really good about that. I tried and introduced my husband and kids to new foods and more vegetables than any of us are used to. We took our family to the park to walk for a half hour last night after dinner (It was a whopping 34 degrees outside... bbbrrrrrr). But it was fun, our 5 year old brought her scooter and the rest of us walked, and aside from the cold we all enjoyed ourselves. We even resisted the draw of Woods Coffee that is smack in the middle of the park (my husband suggest hot cocoa at least 3 times LOL).

What one thing did I do differently this week that I would recommend to others? I swapped out my spaghetti pasta for spaghetti squash. Oh my gosh, it was so good. It probably should have been cooked a little longer so it wasn't quite so firm but it was 1/2 the calories and carbohydrates than the pasta would have been and just as tasty and filling.

I suppose I should set some attainable goals for next week. hmmm...

1. Go to bed when you feel tired at night
2. Avoid late night snacking
3. Exercise for at least 15 minutes a day
4. Continue to make healthy food choices

Okay, I think that about does it for me today. Now to go find a nice healthy recipe for Saturday/Sunday breakfast with the family (normally it's just me in the mornings as we all leave at different times during the week.)

Until next time!
