Springing to Action Challenge - Week Five
Saturday, March 23, 2013
It has been quite a week, and not in a good way. I had a terrible stomach virus which knocked me right out on Monday. It's now Saturday and I'm still not entirely back to normal. The virus caused me to become quite dehydrated but I got sick every time I drank water. I ended up drinking lots of flat gingerale and gatorade instead. It helped to get fluid into my system but all of that sugar made me feel pretty gross. I'm hoping to get back on track today.
This week's challenge was a great one for the first week of spring! We've had sunshine, snow, cold days and warm days this week...typical Alberta weather for this time of year, but it was nice enough for me to get out walking five times. The other two days I was too sick to go anywhere but I have spent time tending our indoor garden every day this week. We're joined a community garden so we've started lots of vegetable plants for it. We've got some flower seeds which are just starting to sprout and I think I'll make another trip to the garden centre for a few more things to grow for our flower beds.
The bonus challenge was an easy one for me...I regularly visit two farmers' markets and I went to pick up some goat's milk for my son and got a good deal on some organic sweet potatoes while I was there. I can't wait until the little country markets start up this summer!
Between walking outside and watching our seedlings grow inside, it definitely feels like spring around here. It feels like my energy is shifting to a more positive place and these spring activities have been a refreshing change for my toddler. He's getting excited about the easter bunny and the idea of being able to play in the backyard every day again.
My weight loss this week has been nonexistent. I am firmly stuck on a plateau. This morning I will plan a fresh menu for the week...I feel like soups and salads will do the trick this week. I'm going to do my best to be able to post a loss this time next week! Let's go Bahama Mamas!
