Work is great, but....

I am thinking of cutting back a bit! In fact, I would love to not have to go to work at all! It is interfering with my life! Work is getting in the way of my exercise time, my play time, my relaxing time and my reading and hobby time. It is just hindering my development!
So, let's explore the pros and cons of "going to work".
Pros: Making money I need in which to live, pay bills, food, clothing etc.
It has offered me the opportunity to meet new people.
It gives me a feeling of accomplishment.
I help people look their best. I am convenient for the people in the
small town I have my shop.
Cons: It takes up too much of my time!
Last minute customers seem to be the norm lately, and it gets
aggravating.
Now, here are the pros and cons of not working.
Pros: I will have time to: read more (way behind now)
exercise any where and anytime I want
take super-long walks
spend more time with my friends
see my family more
play - golf, roller skating, boating, card games, etc
I could quilt more, do more of the sewing I enjoy, finish my afghans
and wall hangings
I could sleep in if I want to.
I could travel whenever and wherever I want.
Cons: No money for food, clothing or shelter, I'll be living under a bridge in
three months!
OK, I guess that's it! I will have to keep working. I knew it all along, it's just nice to dream about having the time to live the way I want, go when and where I want to go.
But wait, that is what I will have in my retirement, and in time I will be there and ready to enjoy not having to go to work. It may be a few years away - but I am so looking forward to the time! My dreams will indeed come true, and working now, is just in preparation for then. I still have a few ducks to get in the row first.
So for now, I am happy to have a good business with loyal customers. I am my own boss and have great freedom within the time restraints I impose upon myself. And I manage my time as good as I can in order to get in some play, some reading, some exercising and some relaxation.
It's a good balance, and that is the secret to living well - balance!
