Update from Appointments

Friday, March 22, 2013

My appointments this week were ok. I don't like their scales. My weight was higher at both offices.

The appointment on Monday was for a physical. Found out I have a bacterial infection. I was prescibed medicine for it. Then I was informed that I need to get my very first Mammogram. OUCH! I have heard awful stories about that test. Not looking forward to it. Also, the doctor drew blood from me and I got the results on Thursday. My bloodwork is fine. Yeah, no more Vitamin D supplement. My TCH level is fine (I think that is for my thyroid) and the rest was normal. YAY! A win for me. I do however, have to go back in April for an ultrasound of my abdomen.

On Thursday morning I went to the Cardiologist. It took them several tries to get my blood pressure. The first reading was 100/60. Had an EKG done and it took four tries to get one. Not sure what's up with that but the doctor said it was fine. She took my blood pressure again and it was 110/70. We discussed my Bodymedia and Sparkpeople and my Healthier Lifestyle changes. My doctor is all on board. I even got my recommended Target Heart Rate so I don't mess anything up. It's lower than I thought it would be but that is ok. 135-153 is my target heart rate.

The scale that I am going to keep up with is the one from my mental health doctor's though. Depending on my mood changes and my weight determines the dosage of medicine they prescribe. Kinda hard admitting that one. I see them more often than I see the other two.

Well, there is the update and now off to help my son with a school project. Of all things it is his workspace and submitting photos and descriptions of what he can change to make it better.

Hugs and Smiles to all my Sparkfriends.

Wow! You have a lot going on! Good for you for managing all that and keeping up with the weigh-ins and appointments.

The mamo-smash . . . . Make sure that you make your appointment for right AFTER your monthly period. You should be least tender during that week. Don't let them squeeze in your appointment at their convenience. You might have to wait an extra month - but better than being tender. Also emoticon DON'T drink coffee before your appointment that day.

    I hope all goes well.

A lot of stuff going on with those appointment. Did you ask the doctor why they had problems? It could be that their machines were 'on the fritz', not because of you. Or it could be that there's another easy explaination. I've never had a mammogram, but from what I've heard the squish isn't that horrible and if it saves your life, then it's really worth it, isn't it?

Congrats on the progress so far. The scales are always higher at the doc office.

Well if you ask me the doctors scales are ALWAYS higher than the ones at home..... I don't know why that is. But if you need one to depend onto adjust your meds I guess you had better stick with the one at the mental health dr. Sounds as though all of your "numbers" are great and totally don't worry about the mammogram. I have had more than I can count..... they are a little "squishy" and at best a little uncomfortable, but no worries. They are quick and will be over before you know it. Like anything else, their value far outweighs a little discomfort. Keep Sparking you're doing great! emoticon
