Well I made it from September 20 to March 20. Surviving winter in Montana is no easy feat. By March I feel like Sisyphus, condemned to roll the big boulder of winter up the hill.
I set my intention at the last equinox to remember to keep each of these elements a part of my day. Just that commitment really helped this year. I think that I did well for all of these.

So with that in mind, I thought I'd set my intentions for the next 6 months. It's the warmer half of the year, so I have no excuses. I'm going after my WORST habits, or at least the top three.
1. I rarely sit down to eat. I eat on the run because I'm in a hurry to get somewhere. Of course I skip meals too, then eat whatever shows up because I'm hungry. I AM GOING TO SIT DOWN TO EAT.
2. I eat when I cook. Then I'm not that hungry when I actually do sit down with my husband and son. So I AM GOING TO WAIT to eat until I sit down. Wow, delayed gratification. I can do that.
3. I love sugar. Once I start, I can't stop. Recently, it's girl scout cookies. I've been trying to change my relationship with sugar for all of my adult life. I'm going to work on this. Any ideas are welcome.

Hello! Congrats on making it through winter...I am from Pennsylvania but live in Canada, so I hear you on winter! I think your intentions are inspiring, as each of these is a priority for me too (probably most of us!!), and I know if I could improve my habits in those areas it would assist me greatly in my goals for overall health and weight loss. You go girl! And enjoy those sit down meals with your family :)

Winter in Montana may be quite difficult, but I have no doubt it is also totally stunningly beautiful. I have always wanted to see that part of the U.S. but alas, have been to Europe 5 times and not even seen the Grand Canyon. I decided that international travel is really, really hard on you, so wanted to do that early on in my life, saving the U.S. road tripping for later. I took my first trip to the southwest just a few years ago.
So now I need to look through your page and see if you have any Montana pictures, although I suspect your background picture is Montana!!!
As for your intentions, way to go!! They sound very logical and workable to me, for sure! Sugar ... well, let me just say we share a challenge there. It's different for each of us but for me, I've found that if I completely deny myself, I tend to then have a big sugar bash after several days. So my current concept is moderation in all things. Hmmm ...

"The equinoxes are the only times when the subsolar point (the place on the Earth's surface where the center of the Sun is exactly overhead) is on the Equator" (Wikipedia). Ecuador=equator and I'm so sad I didn't think about the vernal equinox when booking my flight back (flew back on March 19!). I could have easily come back a week later and partaken in the wonderful activities of the indiginous community, celebrating the sun's point on March 20. Oh well. It was a great trip in every way in any case...even the questionable times were good, mostly relationship stuff with my bestest girlfriend there (that I am still processing).
Excellent top three, practical and totally feasible, goals!
