Nugget of Truth #9

Romans 12:1 AMP I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

Joyce Meyer says in The Everyday Life Bible commentary that Paul says that we are to dedicate everything about ourselves to God—not just our possessions, money, time, energy, and efforts, but also our bodies, head, hands, tongues, and even our minds, emotions, and attitudes. We are to dedicate everything about ourselves to God as a “living sacrifice,” holy, devoted, consecrated, and pleasing to Him. This is our “reasonable, (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

Did you realize that a sacrifice dies so that someone else can live? That's what Jesus did for us; He died that we might live. He gave His life so we could experience abundant life. For us to be a living sacrifice that means that everything that we are and have is laid on the altar of service and worship for our God; every moment of every day, whatever we desire is crucified that God may live through us.

Question to ponder: Am I giving my all to Him today that He might live through me?

Confession for today based on God's word: I make a decisive dedication of my body, mind, will, emotions, and spirit to God as a living sacrifice, devoted and set apart for His use and to be well pleasing in His sight today which is my reasonable service to Him and worship of Him.

Prayer for today: Father, I thank You for giving Jesus to die for me that I might experience abundant life. I choose today to give You all that I am, that I have and that I ever hope to be. I pray that my life will be a reflection of the life that You gave for me. May I glorify You in my spirit, soul and body today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Thank you Avanell for a great reminder. I know everything we have belongs to God. Sometimes, I don't think about my body. I am grateful that Jesus died so we could have everlasting life and we really should make our bodies truly a temple. Thank you Avanell for the goodie and note.

I think for me at least that I didn't understand fully what that meant until I understood that everything belongs to him anyway and that I have been bought with a price. Great blog!

This is so true, Avanell...and I have worked on dedicating my body for quite some time. That one is not an easy one for me. But I have been receiving things that the Lord has wanted me to know about it. And thank you for the prayer today. It never stops amazing me that Jesus died for ME too.

we can be a walking testimony to others . Words are not always needed. live your life in such a way that others see what is different in you . At my work place I was amazed
that what i stood for & would not comprise , was seen as christian faith.I was asked
at times to pray for others . people I never knew .

Wow, did He really mean everything? Yes, He did. All the time, all I possess and even what I have handed over. Sometimes as I reach back to clutch something already given, I might even hear a gentle rebuke. This is a hard truth! Thank you for this Nugget, Avanell.
