Job Searching

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Looking for a job sucks. The jobs I want I am WAY over qualified and the pay is horrible. I understand that I won't make what I was making, but I can only go so low. It does bother me that I have 2 degrees and I may not use them fully. A lot of the jobs that I could make money in, I need a psych or social work degree and I am not going back to school to get that. Sigh. I finally got my resume up to date and and just trying to find something that I will enjoy. That is the whole reason why I left teaching. But there are days, like today, where I do miss it and wonder if I had the kids I wanted, would it be different?? I am looking in both VA and MI so if anyone out there knows of jobs for me - let me know!

emoticon You will find something that is a good fit Christine - hang in there! Hey - I don't use either of my degrees so maybe that is a family trend. LOL Anyway - don't think I'm that selfish if I not-so-secretly hope you find something in Michigan! But seriously, I'm rooting for you either way.

I went through the job search the past couple of years, so I understand completely where you are coming from.
What always got me was the schools that got my number and would call me wanting to sign up. I hadn't even started paying for the first degrees.

I kind of feel your pain...I am way over qualified to be a floor nurse right now, but am bidding my time and my 2 degrees over what I need for full time teaching in nursing...

I wish you the best of luck because I know it sucks but sometimes taking a part time job can lead into full time, so maybe look that way? That's what I'm doing and it has opened some leads up.

I know how you feel about looking for a job - it does suck! I was out of work for a year and just found a job/started back to work last September. The job I ended up getting is something I am over-qualified for too, and I am not making nearly as much money as I was at my last job. But we needed the income and my unemployment benefits were running out so I went for it. Overall, it's been good.

I wish you luck in finding something. I am in TX, so I don't have any leads for you. I hope you find something soon!
