Mrs. I'm-so-much-better-t

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Ever have one of those days when you're feeling really good about yourself and then Mrs. I'm-so-much-better-than-you shows up?

Got to the gym when it opened this morning (this is not a terrific feat since my gym opens at 8h00) and who do I see? The maman of my daughter's rival, whose name is similar to her mother's: Little-miss-I'm-so-much-better

No matter what I say, her and her daughter will have outdone me and my daughter. Her daughter's ski diploma is more advanced. Her daughter's on a better, more competitive swim team than my daughter. She runs every morning while I'm (the poor sap) is working out inside of a gym. She runs triathalons while I simply do a cardio and strength workout every day. She drives a 4x4 while I drive a poorman's sedan. Today after showers she donned her pretty pink sweater and black pants - almost the exact SAME thing I was wearing! (unbelievably true!!) But her comment was about how she loves pink because she looks so good in it. I need not continue, do I?

Here's the really good news....I don't care because I'm feeling really good today about getting back on track. Had my best calorie day in a week yesterday. I look great in pink - it's my romantic color. My knee feels better than it has in 2 1/2 weeks (recuperating from ski week). I have work to do and I'm focused. Today is going to be better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better than today.

Oh, and, I'm carrying my balloons, Weezie.

One of the hardest things with which I struggle is comparing myself to others. I love the photo there... that should be our goal: "Be better than you were yesterday."
