Somewhat more positive update on my mother's health...

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

This is Beverly Wilkerson Stevenson Troxell's son Lance Stevenson once again...this time with a more positive update about mother than last night's update.

Today she was able to hold down some small amounts of food. Starting with a sugar free fudge bar at 3:15am this morning. When I awoke at 11:08am this morning, she did not want breakfast. So I did not want to offer anything she would not want. She was able to eat some cornbread from Cracker Barrel crushed into a small glass of milk before dinner as a snack.

As to dinner time, she was able to tolerate a very small piece of steak, cut into very small pieces for her. That along with about a 1/4 of a spoonful of mashed potatoes and a spoonful of coleslaw was her dinner tonight.

Also she has started as of today...losing her natural hair. While I hate to see her in pain while undergoing all this chemotherapy and having to "slay the cancer dragon", I believe what has worried me the most was her losing her hair. Her hair is how she and I define her appearance and to see her without it is a little bit of a shock...but she has a wig. So that does help. And on the brighter side...she is healthy. For that I am thankful. Goodnight and god bless all. And also congratulations to Biggest Loser contestant Danni Allen on winning tonight's Biggest Loser Finale.

On a final note...Though she did not want to lose weight this way...Mom has now lost...she says to tell everyone...70 pounds since January 4th, 2013 which was the day of the surgery on her leg.

So glad your mom is doing better, and getting a little bit of appetite again. I know that the nausea and the hair loss is a big issue for my friends that have had chemo. Just keep giving her your love and support. It means a lot. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. emoticon
