Weekend Recap

Monday, March 18, 2013

All in all, not too shabby. Had a little too much sugar (darn gluten free brownies!) but held myself in check with the grains AND gluten for once. Water consumption was just mediocre. *Might* have accidentally consumed half a bottle of wine Saturday night having game night with the in-laws.

Did manage my first race of the year: Shamrock Shuffle 5K. Finished 167th/541; 69th/369 females, and 6th/54 in my age division. I'm really quite happy with that. My time was 28:59, so right around a 9:20 mile. I was just hoping to keep it under 10, so yay! I felt like I pushed myself and held consistent throughout. Honestly I probably was a little quicker since the beginning was so incredibly sluggish. Last year I guess they had 350 show, and this year was significantly more. I will say this about my area: People run. We might be the #4 most obese city in the nation, but we have such a HUGE running community, that even small events have turned into huge affairs. emoticon

My running partner finally got the fire lit in her to RUN again, so now of course she's dragging me to like 4-5 other races in the next 3 months. lol. This was the first time EVER I beat her (her time? 29:00. ha!) Hey, it's a second. I'll take it, especially since she's 3 inches taller than me, and ALWAYS beats me, by 30 seconds to 5 minutes, depending on the distance. Shes' the sort who can rally at the end, even if she's just run 10 miles, whereas I'm repeating in my head "just get there. just get there. just get there." emoticon

So overall I'm feeling hopeful again that I can get my weight where I feel best. For today anyway. emoticon

Hooray! That's an awesome time (at least compared to me).

I signed up for a Color Blaze 5k but after my ankle and foot troubles of the last year, I'm afraid my running days are behind me. I guess that means I will be extra blazed (and I wasn't eating or drinking when I read this).

So glad you're back to blogging!

Awesome! I wish I could go that fast! One of my daughters goals this year is to do at least a 5k every month, yikes that is a lot of running! Her next one is Crazy Legs in Madison that is an 8k.

You are doing so well, I just know that you are going to get to your goal very quickly!
