Day 9 Juicing

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Down another .8 for a total of 12.4
Went to bed at 10pm probably fell asleep around 11 and woke up without an alarm at 7:30am! Say whattttttttttt???
Had tons of energy today so did 20 min zumba. My Mean green was tasting too tart and had a tough time getting it down, but I think it was because I really wasn't hungry. I had tons of water and herbal teas. Then Sis brought coconut water for us to try out. The Zola one was yummy, sweet tasting. I didn't care for the Naked one.
Had a brilliant Idea to soak some chia seeds in the coconut water. Turned out really nice. Sis ate it like that, I will probably put it in one of my juices tomorrow.
So I am really excited that things are flowing along.
And then mom shows up asking me if I will eat on Easter Sunday. For the people who don't know me, I am Greek Orthodox and this year our Easter isn't until MAY 5th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!! For Reals mom? I tried to explain to her that it all depends, because I am planning to do a juice fast on Holy Week because we are not to have any dairy or animal products for Easter fast. And it is not recommended that you have lamb right after a fast...
That was battle number one.
Battle number 2? Today marks the beginning Lent and from our area of Greece we have a tradition called Ascha-Pascha where we tie a boiled egg from a string and swing it in front of our mouths until someone catches it. Then we tie the string and make knots naming all the bad things we would like to not exist, and burn the string. The egg gets eaten.
Want to guess the argument?
mom:Ven, can't you have a piece of egg?
me: mom its not a veggie in a juice form so no
Mom: but it's our tradition
me: I participated, so I was part of the tradition. Sorry can't have it
Mom: how about a little piece?
me: no means no
Mom: how about just a tiny piece of the white part
Me:... no...
It's going to be a fun ride.

When I started this I wasn't sure I was going to make it through day 1, and once I did I said ok I will go to 3, then to 5, 7 and now I am approaching 10. Tomorrow I will decide how many more days I want to do. Would it be awesome if I could do 60? Sure, as this is supposed to help my body heal. But even if I decided to stop tomorrow, I still think it is awesome :D The transformation I am feeling is amazing. And I am not just talking about the weight. I consider that the bonus.
I am talking about the mind clarity, the clearing skin, and the energy.
I am loving these.

Oh and for the comments on my previous blog on the beaver anus used for red coloring it is actually Beaver anal glands labeled as Castoreum.
Here is a link with that info and some others...

I can understand why you would be concerned and thank you for being so caring emoticon
I have studied this for awhile, and I am doing it the right way.
Tomorrow (weather permitting) I am going to see my family dr. so
he will be in the loop too. Since I am not on medication for anything and except my PCOS I don't have any health issues, I should be good for a long run -should I choose to go down that path. If you read up on Juicing when you do it over an extended period of time, your body heals itself. It would be awesome for some of my minor arthritis from broken bones to be repaired and I don't have as much pain with the weather changes. :) One can be hopeful.
I have also added chia into my juices for added protein. A lot of people after a detox like this go straight into a Vegan lifestyle - I won't. I am going back to paleo because I love meat and it helped me so much. So it will be a combo of juicing and paleo !
It has taken me a long time to stand up for myself. Yes I remember when she visited and made all those foods - I ate them not to hurt her feelings and hurt myself instead. I decided this time around it's not going to be that way. In my 45th year of life on this planet I am going to be selfish for a good reason. Heal my body and keep it that way. You have been part of this revolution and I cannot thank you enough for being there for me.
emoticon again for the concern, caring and cheering on.

So I think I was under the impression that you were doing this for 21 days (not sure why I had that number in mind) .... you're considering 60? Mother hen in me wants to make sure that it's healthy to do for that long --- you've checked with the "right" people to make sure it's okay, right?

I'm amazed at your progress and so very proud of you and happy for you. Sounds like you and your sister have found a groove and that it's working so well after a few false starts with other plans! Nice to have the companionship ... and you sound like you did a super job talking to you mom without having a battle royale. Remember when your grandmother was here and cooked your faves night and day and it was soooo hard to say "no"? Progress is a beautiful thing, Ven .... you are bursting into spring with great resolve .... way to go lady! Just be careful!
