How/where do you take waist measurement??

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Now years ago before I ever had kids (when I was 18...and yesterday I turned 49) and almost any model with an hourglass figure knows where her waist is. The skinniest part runs around the middle about the same location as your belly-button.

But now my belly button is no longer in the skinniest part of me. So do I measure my waist at the belly-button section or do I move upwards and measure the skinny area and count that as my waist??

Across the belly-button I get about 46" but if I move the tape measure up 5", then I am only 41.5 inches around. And both pair of shorts I just bought today have a 34 inch elastic waist.

This is all to confusing for me. How are we supposed to know our true waist size?
46...41.5...34??? No matter which one of those numbers I choose as my waist size; it is still bigger then what my hips "USED" to be before children. I assume hips would not be so confusing to measure but I have not taken those measurements
in awhile.

Find your natural waist. An easy way to do this is to stand in front of the mirror and bend at your side. The crease that forms indicates your natural waistline, directly above the belly button and below the ribcage.
