"Remember who you are"

The other day I was thinking about what Lysa TerKeurst said in her book "Made to Crave." She said she always told her kids "remember who you are." Then she tells the reader to "remember who you are" and that you are a "Jesus Girl." I love that. It's so important. People are constantly judging us as Christians, and even though it might not seem fair, it's just how it is. We need to remember who we are (and Who we belong to!) It's easy to lash back at someone who isn't treating you right or saying something you don't agree with. But Jesus wants us to "remember who we are" and turn the other cheek. We are to lead by example and be the light that shines for Him!
The day after I was thinking about this, my boys wanted to watch the Lion King movie. Towards the end, Simba's dad Mufassa comes to him in a vision and tells him "Remember who you are" to remind him that his role in life was to be the King of the land, and that he had forgotten who he was by running away and doing his own thing with Timone and Pumba. It's funny that a kids' cartoon can have such a moral impact. It really stuck out to me since I had been thinking about the Lysa quote the day before!
In life, there will be set backs. Things don't always go as planned. We don't always get our way. But, we need to remember who we are. God has created a goal for each of us, He has a plan that He wants us to complete while we are here on earth! If you fall away or feel like you're drawing back, remember who you are. You are a Jesus Girl (or Guy) and He has a plan for you!
