Sorry Ed Is Gone

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Totally shocking news on Thursday. Our cycling friend, Ed, died on Wednesday. He was on a group ride and just collapsed. He could not be revived. So sad. There are so many people affected – his family, his cycling community, other friends, etc.

Was supposed to meet Greg & Debbie for the ‘maintenance loop’ yesterday but Dan and I were at the DMV to get our car listed as ‘salvage’ and then to register it as usable. Four hours and lots of running around town to get it done. It is done.

Since I missed the loop, I went out on my own and got a 12 mile workout. Noticed a place for sale that might fit our needs. Dan and I drove out there today to take a look. It’ll have to wait until we get back from China. Hope its still available.

Met with the group for the second Mr. Frog’s training ride today. It was a lot easier this week. I don’t think we did as much climbing and I know we didn’t ride as far. I’m pretty sure the fact that I ate better and stayed hydrated made a difference.

Sorry about your loss. It's always shocking when an apparently healthy person dies suddenly. It must have been an awful experience for the people who were there. I'm hopeful your memories of your friend Ed will comfort you during your grief.

As to the rest of your post, I've always loved the fact that riding takes me down streets I'd never travel in a car. I've found places to rent and amazing little pocket neighborhoods I never knew existed. It's a wonderful way to get to know your town.
