Thought for the day 3/15/13

We have all been there. We have all made the choice to start anew on our lives. We have made the choice to give up our old lifestyle so that we can begin anew to lose weight, exercise regularly and lead a healthy lifestyle. We have all closed the door to the past and are opening the door to the future with it's endless possibilities. What I suggest is that every once in a while we unlock that door to the past and peek in to see how far we have come and then close it again, taking a breathe and continuing on our journey into the future.

The past can be viewed as a scar! It is evidence of a past hurt or injury that has healed. Just like when we get injured, we become aware of that thing or that circumstance that led to our hurt. The place of that injury is reinforced when it heals leaving us that reminder that what hurt us was not desirable nor pleasant! No matter how we might romanticize our ignorance or pleasure that led us down that path to the inevitable incident! With weight gain and poor health, it is more of a gradual occurrence but as we learn to undo the harm that has been done, it is just like the process of replacing bad damaged tissue with new to create the healed state of new health. So as we set your hand to the task of healing, I agree that it must be done with the understanding that the place that we once knew as normal and comforting was just an illusion that lead to your poor health and enlarged persona! The goal shouldn't be to loose the weight so that we can get back to the old routine. Just as you have stated Tom, we must leave those things in the past as we strive for a new future. A better and brighter future equipped to never injure ourselves in the same way again!
