This is the link that explains what plantar faciitis is if you've never had it or heard of it. All my symptoms were classic: The pain is usually worse In the morning when you take your first steps; after standing or sitting for a while; when climbing stairs and after intense activity.
I have pain in the heel and it burns. My aunt thought it was either one of my bone spurs or my diabetic neuropathy. My doctor said nope on all counts and boy he knew exactly where to touch to get the pain!
Anyway, he was giving me a cortosteriod shot for my sinuses and said it'd help my foot. So I got the shot in the right hip. He told me if that didn't help and I was still having problems that I would have to get a shot in my foot. I laughed and said "ewwww sounds like it'd hurt like a shot in the eye does". He laughed and said "I don't know about the eye".
So I have to wear good supportive shoes from the time I get up in the morning till I go to bed. Yuck! I'm not supposed to go barefoot or wear flip flops. I don't wear flip flops but I walk around the house in either socks or barefoot.
My foot is feeling a little better tonight. I did manage a 52 minute walk with my dog even though it was a very light rain. I just had to get outside in nature for awhile. My head is hurting but that's stress.
My other problem is a pain in my side. Since I don't have a gall bladder or appendix that's ruled out. Based out what he felt and where I felt the pain he said I was having spasms in my stomach - I've had them before about 22 years ago and they doubled me over in pain - I was pregnant at the time. So that's what I kind of figured it was. I said "ah maybe I drank too much kefir". My probiotic of choice and I've had some constipation issues and I was drinking more the last couple of days. We'll see what happens over the next few days. It's (the pain) not in the right place for anything else.
I've had a headache probably because my bp was 148/56 - the top number's too high and it goes way up when I'm hurting and this pain in my side started last night and hit me a couple times on the way to the doctor this morning.
Had my routine blood work done (I'm diabetic). The had no problems getting blood this morning which is a miracle. I drank so much water yesterday and this morning - that's what one nurse told me to do and this morning I must have hit the golden spot of hydration for my blood. Instead of the spotty drip drip drip they usually get out of the top of hand it actually ran but slowed down once but she was able to get the two tubes full of blood for a change. I'm the person they dread seeing in the lab because I have horrid veins - my mom and her dad did too - small, they roll, they blow and I have the added problem of scarring because I have to have blood drawn every three months for the last 12 years. Couple that with getting stuck repeatedly because they find a good vein but no blood comes out, you slowly run out of options.
Best news of all my usual monthly prescriptions were a lot less today. Which was absolutely awesome news! I loved paying less than half of what I normally do. She told me that it was correct so I was thrilled.
How was your day? I'm still fighting the scales - gaining and losing the same 10 pounds over and over. My clothes are fitting better so as long as that's happening I'll be fine until warmer weather and I get my butt in gear. Only 87 days until vacation so I have to lose something by then. I'll take anything. Maybe now that my foot and sinus issues are addressed I'll be on the road to recovery.
We can do this, oh yes we can. Do not get discouraged. Keep doing what you need to be doing and tweaking things and you'll succeed. Look how far you've come. No matter how insignificant you think your accomplishments they are still accomplishments. These little things add up over time. Take care of yourself. Do this for yourself and yourself alone. There are a million reasons to lose weight and get healthy but none of them will help you unless you truly want to make a difference in your life. You have to commit to a lifestyle change - not a diet please - a healthy lifestyle eating good foods and exercising. Make your exercise something you truly love and it'll be second nature before you know it - you'll miss it if you skip doing it.
Sending you all love and hugs! Have a fantastic week & weekend - it's almost here!
