Running Around

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

My grandson was home sick from school today. My SIL had taken my granddaughter to school, and was getting some brake work done. My daughter wasn't sure he'd be back in time to pick up my granddaughter. If it wasn't such a yucky weather day, and my grandson coughing up a blue streak, she would have walked to the school with the lad in tow. But even though my granddaughter was capable of walking home by herself, we're not too trusting of the neighborhood,so that option also was out. In desperation, she asked if I could pick her up. Thing is, on Wednesdays she gets out about an hour BEFORE me. So I checked with the teacher I worked with, and with my supervisor, and got the go ahead.

But that was just the beginning.

To the bank to take out some money. To Aldi's to get some groceries. To Tops to send money via Western Union and pick up what groceries I couldn't get at Aldi's. I had a dickens of a time finding the honey, so I asked at last where it was. Over by the bread and fruits. Oh, just where *I* would think to put it, rather than with stuff like pancake syrup or baking supplies. Yeah, right over there, with the peanut butter and jelly. emoticon Of course, between standing in line for the moneygram and tromping all over in search of honey, my joints and flat feet were lodging a complaint.

But I wasn't done yet. On to Delta Sonic for an overdue oil change, and service on the transmission and power steering fluids. At least I could sit and wait.

But that's not all! On to Toys R Us to get a cool dinosaur made by Schleich for one of the great-nephews in Peru. He has a small collection of dinosaurs, and was delighted when I made some little ones out of plasticene, with which he played.

So when I was out with my daughter and grands at Toys R Us and saw these, I immediately thought of David and wanted eventually to get one for him. I am sending a box of stuff to Peru - tomorrow's errand! - some polo shirts for Levi's birthday, vitamin E for his sister-in-law (David's mom), calcium for her mother, yarn for my mother-in-law...There's room for a little dinosaur, this cool Velociraptor whose mouth OPENS!

I just have to include a note for him not to go too crazy with opening the critter's mouth - wouldn't want him to break it off.

Finally I went home, unloaded all the stuff...only to discover I'd left the bag with the hoagie rolls at TOPS! I was SO tired (up at 5) and hungry (finished lunch at 11 and it was now almost 5) and hurting. But of course no one else could go out to retrieve the wayfaring bread, so I had to head out again to pick them up.

I want to put my feet up and watch a movie.

Ooohhh...can I have a Velociraptor toy, too? ;) Fell in love with dinosaurs as a young girl and even more so when I read Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park later on.

    Keep being awesome! emoticon
