My "Trouble Goal"

Monday, April 23, 2007

One of my action steps this week is to write about my "trouble goal" in my online journal.

I feel like I'm doing good at excercise (I've even committed to my strength training), I get all my water in, stay within my ranges... but I have yet to be consistent at getting two fruits and veggies in.

(I'm supposed to talk about my feelings first.)

Well to be honest it kinda makes me feel guilty. When I choose what to eat and I look at the fruit and my eyes just sliiiide away. I just pick something else because it seems... easier? Why should something else be easier than fruit??? I don't know but that's how I feel sometimes, which doesn't make any sense. I LIKE fruit. And I do like veggies too, and I have less trouble getting those in when I'm eating salads regularly. So why the problem with the fruits? I don't know.

I think part of the problem might stem from the fact that I don't really know what a serving of fruit is. I mean, I took it for granted that one apple was or one orange was. But really, one small orange is only 1/2 a serving, while to get a full serving it would need to be a large orange. I just looked this stuff up so I would know. :) I need to look it up for veggies, too.

I think that this will help make the REAL lifestyle change of making sure I'm treating my body well and giving myself good fresh foods for fuel. I hope I can make these more of a habit. I've been challenging myself to attain 2 servings of each in my recent minigoalchallenge, but I have kinda slipped over the weekend.

Gotta work on this! :)

Dana...I do understand the fruit and veggie thing. It's hard to work them. I find I look for the carbs as opposed to fruit. At the hospital the other day my dad's nutritionist said that one an apple the size of a crabapple is ONE serving, so a normal sized apple is likely 2 servings of fruit. Grapes are also great. Buy them, wash them, put them in the fridge in a bowl so they are cold and when you open to get something else, just pick off a branch. There is another serving.

I DO DO DO DO understand, breakfast and fruit were my two hurdles. Hope this helps.

yesterday i had some plain nonfat greek yogurt with some frozen cherries from trader joe's and some slivered almonds on top. those cherries are great. i couldn't get enough of them.

plus, they are frozen, so they won't rot in your fridge.
