Getting back on the wagon... and a BIG announcement

I not only fell off the wagon last week, I hurtled myself at breakneck speed and refused to even acknowledge that a wagon existed for four days. The good news is that it was only four days. The bad news is that it was still about three extra pounds. Not TOO much, but I certainly hate to admit any back sliding, especially during a challenge!

Last Wednesday, I went to Florida for a business conference. When we landed and went out to dinner I started by giving in to the temptation for a margarita. I could have been good and had a glass of wine but I went with one of the most sugary drinks out there. And to top it off, it wasn't even a great margarita! I didn't stop there, but continued on to have ice cream and truffles the next day as well as ice cream again the third day! And lobster mac and cheese. (Not that I regret the lobster mac and cheese, that was AMAZING!) But did I seriously need ice cream two days in a row? The answer, even though I was in Florida, was no. I didn't stop over indulging when I got home (made cupcakes for a friends birthday, had a couple of taste testers) I definitely went crazy with the "cheating" and I'm ashamed to even admit it. But if I refuse to admit it, how will I face the problem?

Needless to say, my Saturday weigh in was atrocious. Luckily on Sunday I put my foot down and kept it to about 1400 calories and went on a five mile run. I have all of my big "cheat events" out of the way for the 5% challenge, so I'm ready to buckle down and lose! I did try to make a few healthy choices on the trip, namely eating smaller portions, picking healthier foods occasionally and actually getting in a run, but I know I could have done better. I take these trips for work at least 4 times a year, so I will continue to try to get better at them (otherwise that's about 12 pounds a year gained from them!). Working out was a first on this one, next time I'll try for twice. And recovery should start on Sat when I return.

My BIG announcement is that I now have EVEN MORE motivation besides the 5% challenge and improved health and lifestyle.... the boy and I booked a beach vacation!!! We are headed to Puerto Vallarta in 43 days! We have been talking about this forever and finally just decided to do it. Luckily, it's right after the 5% challenge, so I should be looking smokin' hot!

    Acknowledging what we do and then changing our course back again to healthy is major on this journey to healthier life style. Want to say way to go in getting back on track! Vacation is a great motivator for making healthy choices too!! Glad you are back with us on the Teddy Bear Challenge...You can do it! Smiles Barb
