First Race Ever!

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Today I signed up to do my first race ever! I am pretty darn excited! This is it:

It is a 5 miler around Minister's Island. I grew up not far from there and I have always wanted to go to Minister Island and never have. I have been to the point where it connects to land at low tide, but I have never gotten on the island. So, I am excited to say I will set foot on the island for the first time and run my first 5 miler all in the same day! This is the first time in my life that I am physically training for something (with a very visible goal)! I'm hoping I can get some other people in my family inspired to try it, even if they are walking it (which I DON'T plan on doing)! :)

Also, I signed up for the March/Spring challenge in "20 Somethings with 50-99 Pounds to Lose" which is also going to be really fun time - and my first such challenge! First week will be 15 min of cardio everyday! WOOP! Also, I am going to use the chance to be a bit more accountable at eating my veggies! I've been doing really well this week and I hoping the challenge will help me stick with it everyday and make it a daily norm!

Here's to spring!

It's funny..I had this crazy idea to sign up for a half-marathon in 6 months and there is this little voice in my head telling're not a runner, you never were etc etc..but for some reason I keep bumping into posts like yours and I think to the universe trying to tell me something? lol Good luck to you, and fingers crossed!

Congrats on signing up for your first race. Way to go!

I'm in the same challenge you are - in fact I'm a team captain, and that is a first for me.

Here's to meeting new challenges head on and doing an awesome job!
