Weight difference

Sunday, March 10, 2013

I am doing a monthly weigh in with my doctor. I use their scale as the record of my weight. I decided to do this for three reasons:

1) To use only one scale so as not to be discouraged
and
2) Their numbers is what goes into my chart
and
3) To not be obsessive about getting on it everyday.

All of these work, however, I have discovered in looking at my Sparkpage that it looks like I dropped alot of weight fast. I wish this were true but it isn't. :(
What has happened is the beginning weights were taken from my scale here at home. The weight lost is from the doctor's scales. When I compared the two I discovered that my scale is 7lbs off! The doctor's have me at a lower weight!! YAY That is when I made the decision to not obsess about the one at home and to just do a monthly weigh in with my doctor's and use their numbers.

It all comes down to little changes. Since deciding not to use my scale I actually don't feel as stressed about it. I make sure I go to my appointments just so that they can see I am making small changes.(I can see the monthly weight loss!) The weight loss is a bonus. Being able to cut out alot of these medications will be a bigger one.

Little positives lead to reaching our goals.

Thank you to all my Sparkfriends. We can all do this just by doing little things.

Fantastic! I love that your doctor will support you like this. It might be common, but I've not heard of it. LOVE IT!

YES! The meds really can be reduced or ended. Can't wait for your updates! emoticon

This is true the doctor's scale weight different . I go to three doctors and the all weigh different. It is disappointing when you weigh at home and go to the doctor that day and their scale weighs you heavier. If you stay with eating healthier and exercise you will be able to reduce or get off meds. I was able to cut one of my insulin almost in half, working on getting off of it. Just keep going it will happen.

I think this is a good idea. Stressing about weighing every day can sometimes slow weight loss. Adding up lots of small changes over time will make a big difference.
