Me again...

Friday, March 08, 2013

It has been about 10 days since my last post...better than 4 wks. Or not at all. Went to both doctors...one about my knee...the other about my cold...X-rays were negative but then I re-injured my knee last Sunday...just when I thought that I had "made the turn in the road" I just moved the wrong way, plus my cold came back with a vengeance... back to the doctor & got a shot of cortisone...have to go back in 2 wks. for a ck-up & if necessary, have a MRI to rule out a torn meniscus. My cold is better & my knee is too, but I am a long way off from "dancin in the streets." I'm still using my Mom's walker...so afraid of not using it & falling & have to start over again. Almost reminds me of the Battle of the Bulge...failing & starting over. ANYway, that is my 2 cents for the day. I so appreciate all the supportive comments. I am anxious to get healthy again & to refocus on SP & all the valuable tools of the trade. Take care & have a good weekend...

Janey, Congratulations of using your good sense - we used to tell my mother that it was better to USE the cane/walker etc. and have others think she needed them than to FALL and end up in the hospital or a wheelchair. Use your wisdom to allow your body time to heal. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I hear you about the knee, Janey. Over the last eight - nine years I've slowly but surely done a number on mine, and ended up with a torn meniscus too. I had surgery last November, and while I can't say it's "right" (probably only Ponce deLeon's Fountain of Youth could do that, lol) it's definitely better. Mostly it's a matter of feeling more stable on it. Eventually it all comes right (thinks me). As you say, just be careful about falling.

I'm glad you're still around and moving, even if it is slowly and gently. One day at a time and one baby step at a time will get you there. emoticon

I had physical therapy on my knee for 2 months to "strengthen" it, and when the doctor finally decided to get the knee scanned, it had a meniscus tear (which was made worse with the therapy), so DO get a definitive answer before you exercise it too much.
