Today is one of those days where I am reminded of my physical limitations. If arthritis is nothing else, it is unpredictable. Much of the time, consistent hooping strengthens my neck and back muscles (important, because I also have an atypical scoliosis) and makes difficult days less challenging. Other times, I hoop just a little too much and it aggravates everything.

My arthritis affects most of the joints in my body, including my spine. I've had it since childhood, though the spine involvement is fairly recent. So far, I've been fighting it with a healthy lifestyle (fitness, nutrition). Eliminating meat and dairy keeps inflammation at a minimum, and my flares last for days instead of weeks like they used to. Food is medicine. Sometimes, ibuprofen and a hot bath is also medicine ;)

Tomorrow, I hope to be back to hooping. Today, I will decorate some hoops instead.
