BOOM! One Thousand Calories Burned.

Yesterday, I accomplished one of my main March goals: to hit 1,000+ calories burned during my one hour Zumba class.

I finished the hour at 1,002 calories. And as soon as I saw that, I was almost jumping up and down ecstatic. I hollered to my instructor and class buddies, because they also knew about this goal. Every body clapped and was very celebratory with me.


That being said, it was NOT easy. I had to hustle like nothing else, throw in extra steps, jump higher and dip lower. I also switched to 5lb weights for our toning songs, instead of the 3's I usually use. It was difficult, but it felt good!

I peeked at the scale this morning, and it hasn't moved in two weeks. Which is weird, because I thought for sure that with the much higher cardio load, I'd see a downward movement. I'm still really trying to get under 200 by June, but I'm just at a loss on how to do it right now.

I'm not giving up, I just truly don't get it. I'm eating well within range, exercising like a beast annnnnnnnd nada. Maybe it'll just take another week or two for my body to acclimate to the huge exercise change, and then I'll start losing. Like I said, I'm not giving up.

And in the meantime, I have other victories to celebrate, like burning 1,000 calories in an hour!

    1002 calories in an hour is MEGA-impressive. You are hitting some colossal NSVs this week!

    1,002 is really impressive! You should be proud of yourself for hitting that goal! Keep plugging away at it and the weight will come off, especially if you keep leaving 1,000 calories at Zumba!

    Whoa! That's awesome. Way to go! That's a really difficult thing to do!

    If you're burning mad calories like that, you may need to eat more. The whole starvation mode thing. I know when I was working out a ton and staying within range, the scale wasn't moving either. Once I bumped my calories up, the scale moved down. Might be something to consider.

    Awesome! Way to go! Keep pushing through that plateau. They all end sometime! You've just got to make it to the end!

    First, I don't know how long it has been since the scale has moved, but plateaus happen. Boosting your cardio like that WILL have a result. It is possible with burning THAT many calories you need to eat a little more. It seems strange, I know, but if you aren't giving your body under a thousand calories a day to work with, it will go into starvation mode and hold on to any weight it can. Do measurements and see how your close fit. The scale might not move but if your clothes are loose, you are losing!!!
