Skip a beat to Saratoga

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

I can't honestly say that it is quite true when people mention how obsessed my generation (and future generations) are with documenting and snapping photos of events that happen. I can’t even explain to you why I do feel the need to document, it’s not like I will forget my memories but never less I love sitting down and writing/talking about/taking pictures of what I have done. I think that part of society is pushing so much towards technology and using everything with computers that our socialization skills are slowly being diminished and replaced with silence.
Rant over haha…Anyways this weekend (four days exactly) one of my best friends and I had a mini excursion in Saratoga, New York. I must tell you that I live approximately twenty twenty-five minutes away from Saratoga and have never really experienced the Saratoga thing. I was greatly blown away by how much culture, friendliness and excitement there is in the heart of Saratoga. I have experienced so many fun new things and now love exploring the town and its nightlife. I figured I’d share some cool things that my friend and I did along with pictures to show you some of Saratoga. If any of you decide to visit out this way let me know and I would be more than happy to show the town to you!
Anyways some fun facts from the trip:
~Friday night we went to our hotel and when we walked in it literally looked like the stairway from the Titanic movie. It had this grand entrance that made you feel…well like royalty. After we settled in, we went to the Racino which was my first casino experience ever and I must say I felt like a kid in the candy store with all of the flashing bright lights everywhere. The racino also had a dance club attached that was playing a live band (unfortunately it was a lot of older folks (no offense) drunk dancing) so we went back to an Irish pub to listen to another live band.
~Saturday we set out to explore the town! There were so many little shops, restaurants and odds and ends stores with statues of horses everywhere (go figure Saratoga is mostly known for the historical Saratoga Raceway). We tried this little what looked like a hole in the wall Spanish bistro that, when you walked in you were blown away by the décor and the aromas of heavenly food. Every table was made from old distressed doors and the ceilings were etched with copper designs. We tried some manchengo cheese, tomato bread tapa and it was delicious. They also had these really delicious sandwiches and Spanish wines.
~Saturday night was my friend’s birthday so we headed out to explore the different bars and what they had to offer. The town was full of life and had so many people celebrating the weekend even while beautiful white snow dropped to the ground. I danced the night away, and laid in the snow in a skirt (too much drinks for me woops).
~Sunday was more of a relaxing day where we once again explored the town and went hot tubbing/swimming.
~Monday we did way too much for me to remember. Sunday and Monday are like foggy for me because we did so much that I can’t even remember really.
Funny facts to mention:
~Silver lining playbook was probably one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Not only does it reassure my love for Bradley Cooper but it also makes me love Jennifer Lawrence even more. Boy does she have a rocking body too-I want to work for that! The story itself was very original and the two actors were dynamite together

~Hotel tissue boxes have white tissues and turn to yellow tissues when you get to the end of the box to remind you-how awesome is that?
~Taking pictures with cop cars at night is exhilarating, adventurous and even more fun when you pose touching the car
~Normal friends would help you after you fall upstairs laughing, best friends pull out the camera and take pictures of you.
~Swimming /hot tubbing is no joke. That’s where it lies!
~Never try to get a tattoo during tax return season! Had our first consultation and she is coming back next Thursday to get our first tattoo together 

Hope you enjoyed my crazy adventures…and even though I ate like a fatty (yikes) I managed to lose a pound this weekend from all the walking we did 

We wanted a tattoo for awhile but didn't even think about how hard it would be to just walk in and get it...then the guy that is going to be doing ours next week explained that during tax season people go nuts with tattoos...which is probably really good for business :)

Bill-if you saw these shots they probably would of just for how we were on the cop car (I left some really good pics off of spark due to um well reasons)

One of them I was ready to be searched hahahahha the whole time I was like 'take the picture' because we were worried about getting caught ...

Sounds like a fabulous time. Best time to get a 'deal' on tattoos is after Christmas, because people cut back extra spending.

You do sound like a bunch of fun to be around. Surprised you didn't have the cops cuff you...just for $#its and gigs.

    Sounds like a great time!

BTW, it's not just hotel kleenex boxes that change colors towards the end of the box, it's true in the corporate world and other places, too. It's to let the housekeepers/janitors know when to place a new box.

Small world... I graduated from Bethlehem, where did you grow up? I love Saratoga, and even though I don't live in NY anymore I try to make it up there at least once a year during track season if not for a concert at SPAC! It's beautiful up there for sure, and it sounds like you really enjoyed yourself!
