5k Training: Week 8, Day 1

Last week! WooHoo!

This week is the same as last week, but one interval longer. However, the email said that this week we are suppose to taper our exercises, so we should be doing less time. I don't know, but I decided I would do the 40 minutes. Then I got to the gym and my body was TIRED. It was a struggle, so I decided I would taper this week. I did 20 minutes of intervals, then 5 minutes of power walking. I hope to do 30 minutes on Thursday. Although this workout didn't leave me with that happy exhaustion I love, I still got a good workout in and while stretching I could tell my body needed that easy day.

I've been really pushing my body recently. Because the human body is an incredible machine, it has kept up. It has made it through the running, even though it keeps getting harder. It loves the yoga I do every single day, even when it is challenging. On my last run, my body actually had me run for 8 minutes straight (!!!) because that was keeping a side cramp away and the run wasn't too hard. But today it was time to take it easy.

I have so much respect for my body. While walking back from the gym, I was thinking about a few months back when I first decided to do this 5k training. I thought I was insane. I couldn't imagine being able to do it. But here I am, 4 days from my first 5k, confident that I can do it, and do it in a time I will be proud of. My body has done so much for me, and it makes me very happy to have the awareness and confidence to say that.
