Working to overcome stressors so I can work on my goals.....

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

I know I have an easy life; I should not have stresses that deter me from meeting my goals, but sometimes we get hit when we least expect it and have difficulty getting back up. That was my morning

As many of you know, I have a wonderful job.....I care for the homeless community in the area. I meet lots of people, but sometimes, the only "medicine" I can offer is my listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. I work full time, spending Monday evenings at a men's shelter. Unfortunately, I have to be back to work early Tuesday mornings, so I am usually tired, especially when we leave the shelter late like we did last night.

We rearranged our living situation over the weekend in anticipation of my DH's surgery tomorrow. We moved our bed into the LR, so he can watch TV when he is "resting" post-op. I figured it would be a minor inconvenience.....I would get up at the same time, use the portable DVD player in the (now partial empty) bedroom, and life would go on as usual. However, it didn't work out that way this morning. I went to get the DVD player, but it was not in it's case. The granddaughters used it a few weeks ago and apparently didn't put it back, so I don't know where it is. I couldn't turn the lights on in the main area of the house to look for it, because DH was sleeping. I could have done some SP exercises, using my iPhone, but didn't think about it until it was too late to exercise anyways.

Plan B......I thought I would just go for a run during lunch, but that didn't work out either. We didn't get back from our clinic near the soup kitchen until late, so there wasn't time to change my clothes, run, and get back to clean up before leaving for another clinic.

Now I will try to run on the treadmill after work.....hopefully I am not be too tired (I haven't slept much the past 2 nights, after moving the bed into the LR). I will also look for the DVD player, so it is ready the next time I want to use it.

But, life is good. I spent extra time with God this morning when I couldn't find the DVD player, which helped. I have been following my eating plan and I will have dinner waiting for me when I get home. I have a roof over my head every night and a warm bed to crawl into.

Blessings to you all!
