What do Doctors really know?
Tuesday, March 05, 2013
Hello all. I had a doctor's appointment last week to see a dermatologist for the sudden outbreak of rashes (yes, many different ones) on my skin. I was told that I have big thighs and they rub, so the rash on my upper thighs is contact dermatitis aggravated by rubbing and heat (hot flashes don't help). So, I have to sit with my big thighs spread apart. Then the doctor, with no bedside manners, said that I have psoriasis on my lower legs and on my hands which is aggravated by friction. So, I have to stop shaving until it is under control. Now I have big, hairy legs. :( Next he looks at other parts (not trying to get too personal) and says that it is eczema but can turn into psoriasis if not treated.
Great, I take my itchy, hairy, big thighs and walk out feeling lower than dirt. Can't he tell that I have lost weight...almost 20 pounds! I'm super proud of myself, but he made me feel crappy. He did suggest that I get my thyroid checked. Apparently it is swollen and could contribute to my stalled weight. I think the water retention is killing my weight, but what do I know? Stop eating raw spinach, he says. Drink more water, he says. Take luke warm showers and stop using your body wash, use this one instead...lotion everything! ARG, I cannot seem to win.
I have an appointment to see another doctor at the end of this month. He will check my thyroid and hopefully my itchy skin will be better. Until then, I walk around the house in my skibbies hoping the bumps go away with luke warm showers, new body wash and lots of lotion.
I am still exercising. I just love my new Insanity Work-Out videos my hubby got me for Valentine's Day. All the jumping around makes me hope the fat will just fall off on one big jump, but that hasn't happened yet. I'm still hoping...
I hope you have a great day and thanks for listening.
Blessing to all! :-)
