Swimming at lunch

I have been swimming at lunch for 3 days a week (MWF) and its been a huge stress reliever. I have gone from swimming 8 laps of freestyle, barely.. To 11 laps and it doesn't bother me too much I am just edgy about jumping up my mileage and overloading my shoulders.
My big goal is to be able to swim a 400 free for a triathlon. I am doing my laps at sprint pace, so I have to hang at the gutter & catch my breath. Yes, intervals are great training, but I need to work on finding a sustainable pace I April.
I have a 5k in May with my daughter, and I am struggling to get 1 day a week in. I am hoping with the department I have switched to, I can run 2 nights a week, and one weekend day.
I was spinning at 5am in January, but then started working late for a massive work project, so that was derailed.
I never thought swimming would be my dependable workout ;-)
