Daily Community Challenge on SparkCoach: Has your journey been painful so far--or adventurous? How could you make changes in your habits or your outlook to make the process more fun and exciting? Write a short blog today on this topic.

Thus far my journey to a healthy lifestyle has been painful at times, frustrating on occasion, challenging, inspirational, motivational, and invigorating. All depends on the day you ask me!

I started 4 years ago knowing that I had become a couch potato and had packed on an additional 60 pounds of excess fat. Forty of those 60 pounds is in my belly; fifteen are in my butt...and the remaining 5 are scattered through my arms and legs!

I have wanted to do this "healthy" thing my way--totally ignoring the advice from those who had already success if what they were advising seemed like too much work, appeared too difficult or required what I saw as too great sacrifice.

For the first 3 years, for instance, I refused to track my food, watch portions sizes, count calories, weigh food,---anything along those lines. I also refused to eat breakfast.

And I wondered why the fat wouldn't come of????

I'm doing it differently this year. I'm listening to the success stories and the experts. I'm asking questions. I'm experimenting. And I'm tracking my food, watching portion sizes, weighing my food...and working out consistently with cardio and strength training.

You sound as stubborn as me lol. I know it works, but make excuses why not to use it. I successfully lost 50lbs following the correct plan, stopped and gained it all back. Followed it and lost 50lbs again and stopped, gaining it all back once again. But I have made so many strides in the right direction. Clearing the garbage out of my head and life and it is a process. I am headed back in the right direction once again and hopefully I will stay on the right path and not keep giving up on myself. We CAN do this! Let's use our stubborness to our advantage!!
