I'm having a hard time getting moving. I know I need to lose weight for my health but taking the right steps is harder than I thought it would be.

    Losing weight is hard! Hillary Clinton...and you know the stuff she's been through...said one time that losing weight was the hardest thing she ever had to do. For me, it's been a life long struggle. I just tell myself, "Chins up. Stop eating so much. Get your walks in." Keep your Spark lit!

    It is hard but you are here so that is a GOOD first step. When I first started five years ago I was 214# AND my back hurt me so much. All the doctor said to me was "Well, at your AGE, MOM, you can't expect to lose weight now." Right. So, I went and found my own information.

    INSULIN is the hormone that makes us fat. If we eat to much sugar/starches, INSULIN stores it as fat. I've learned so much from reading Richard Bernstein MD's "The Diabetic Diet". I don't have diabetes but I do have Insulin Resistance like all obese people.

    When I first joined Sparks and began tracking my food I found I drank 1500 calories per day of milk, juice and soda. I stopped that first and changed to drinking Spring water with some juice added, etc. Then I worked on cutting sugar, etc. Start small but DON'T quit.
