Still Fighting

Diet and weight loss are important to me as well as my health, but with school and depression chaining me down I feel like I'm always slipping away and then fighting it out of no where only to just slip away again later. I know that just because I have to fight for it doesn't mean it isn't worth fighting for. I don't want to give up but I really could use some support.

    Every day is a new day. Every day is literally a fresh start.

    Life is a journey and not a set of goals. Enjoy your small successes. A small success might be that you made it to class on time or maybe that you even made it to class instead of being late or skipping. I really do mean--give yourself credit for all your small successes. They give you confidence to do the bigger ones.

    Had a bad week and didn't lose any weight? least you didn't gain any. Didn't keep track and gained weight? We've ALL been there. Just remember-every day is a new day and a fresh start. Don't beat yourself up for bad days...figure out what can you do to make them better and start tomorrow because tomorrow can literally be a fresh start.

    Now- give yourself a hug.

    It sounds like you have a lot going on. While deadlines at school and outside stress can be overwhelming it might help to set small goals for each day. Sometimes trying to see the future, after school, or what things will be in a couple of months, can make things worse.

    Set smaller goals for yourself for each day or week. Then it might not seem so scary.
    Eating healthier and trying to get in just a few minutes of exercise when you are stressed can help some too.

    What might help the most is talking to a counselor. Most schools have some type of counseling available for it's students either for free or a very minimal charge. It's ok to seek this out. I think professionals can at least get you started on the right path.

    There are lots of support teams here on SparkPeople as well. Do a Community search and find a group that seems right. Support from friends is great medicine!
