The Healthy New Habit I Am Working On

I am working on my emotional eating, maybe I should say I am working on not emotionally eating. I believe this is my biggest stumbling block and those of you who know me know I like to go I have had a really emotional week this past week and I did not emotionally eat. This made me wonder what I did differently. Are you ready for this??? I felt the emotions!!!!! I didn't stuff them down because they may make someone uncomfortable or make some angry. I didn't worry about what people thought, I just felt them. So imagine my disillusionment when I realized
that chocolate mocha ice cream does not have the answers!!!!!! I plan to feel my emotions and if they become overwhelming I will do some sort of physical activity, boxing and tae bo come to mind.

    What a great healthy habit to work on! I have a tendency eat rather light (200-300 calorie) breakfasts so as to leave enough room so that I can splurge (or even binge) on healthy foods later in the day.

    I’m working to find strategies where it’s possible to remain within nutritional ranges without thinking about eating or my next meal during my necessary “down” time. I guess this is what one might call emotional eating – something I need to work on further. I look forward to catching up on your blogs for the week. (It was all I could do to get my blogs done last week with all the other Spark expectations . . . this ten-minute stretch is now a walk in the park so I get to lighten up my Sparking a bit.)

    Well, uh, particularly ever since I got my bad feet taken care of again (finally)... I tromp out all my emotions dancing by myself every day (to exotic music, and particularly drumbeats; if nothing else, they drown out the neighbors' godawful noises where I live!)...

    But emotions --you know, the bad kind .. and the anxiety-ridden kind - are banished!

    Keep working and eventually it will ring with exactly what you want to do to achieve your goals. I like to think I'm a relatively slow learning -- and while I may appreciate the company -- I hope you make strides to achieve success! Hug, hug -- Evelyn

    What a terrific accomplishment! I know this past week had to be very difficult emotionally, and allowing yourself to feel those feelings rather than trying to treat them with food (even chocolate mocha ice cream!) was a brave thing to do. Personal growth is one of the most difficult things we can tackle, and you are showing us all how we can do it.

    This is one I really need to work on too. Stuffing emotions down with food doesn't really work than well does it? I wonder why we continue to do it knowing that it doesn't help. Good for you for making the decision to feel your emotions.

    This is awesome... way to overcome... is better to feel than to eat.. wonder just how many of us stuff our emotions with food.. know that I did this week cuz I was angry and hurt... doesn't pay... am getting better with it... good luck.. know you can do it
