I Tri'd at the Y (with Pics)

Saturday, March 02, 2013

I participated in an Indoor Triathlon at the local YMCA this morning and had a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures for you to see what it is like. We participated in each segment for 20 min to see how far we could go!

I was in the first wave of 8. We are waiting for the start. Age range from 8 to 68.

This is me swimming.

DH got a shot of the swim score sheets before the end of the race.

This is the field for my wave of the bike race in the bike room. I'm in the center of the back row.

We are working hard!

The starting lineup for the running part of my wave.

Me running on the back stretch.

Me running toward the finish!

Happy Result...My First Medal Ever!

They won't have the final results til Monday... but I did finish!

If you've ever thought of trying an Indoor Tri to see if you can do one or to get ready for a Sprint Tri....Do it!

I love that! Looks like you did have a lot of fun. I might be able to do a tri that way, on a stationary bike and swimming in a pool instead of the ocean. I can't do the high speeds on a regular bike and hardly ride one at all. I'm so afraid of crashing. We all have our phobias I guess LOL. But on a stationary bike I could do it, even if I didn't win an age group or anything. I'm not a great swimmer but could try. We have only 2 pools here (other than a little one in a motel and some at private residences). One is in a gym run by the hospital and is really warm because it's also used for physical therapy, and has limited hours. The other is the public pool, only open in the summer. The college here used to have a pool but closed it a couple of years ago because it needed major repairs and don't know when they'll ever get them done. I think they don't have it in their budget. I would love to learn to swim in the ocean but living in New Mexico I don't get a chance for that LOL. Although there is a lake 2 hours away that you can swim in, and they have had a tri or two over there each year but you have to ride a real bike. But what you did looks like a lot of fun and I wish there was an opportunity here to try something like that. Congratulations on finishing! Would love to know the final results.
