I'm headed to the farmer's market this morning. I hope to stock up on garden-fresh produce and pick up some tomato plants and if I'm very very lucky a bell pepper and an eggplant starter.
The ground is still pretty much frozen, but I can keep plants indoors until it's warm enough to plant them outside, and even then I will have to protect them from nighttime frost and marauders.
I'm taking care of a friend's dogs this weekend, which always means lots of running about in the meadow, good exercise for all of us. If I remember, I'll pick up a pack of tennis balls to throw. Dogs in a group always love to play keep-away and chase. They play keep-away from me, too, and that's fine.
In an endeavor to make sure my dogs get plenty of exercise, I always forget that we are out there to have fun as well. Throwing tennis balls and chasing each other about is a simple way to incorporate fun into the day, and it makes me a better person as well.
Losing weight, losing the heavy helmet of hair that dragged me down, losing my gallbladder have all helped to make me happier and healthier, and sometimes yes I have to keep reminding myself of those things, and sometimes I have to remind myself so often that I will believe them to be true, because they are true. Like anyone else who has been beaten down before, it's much harder to climb out than to be thrown in.
