Gym membership

Saturday, March 02, 2013

I've spent much if this past week touring several gyms in my area. The first one I went to had beautiful facilities, but the vibe I got from the sales guy totally turned me off. The second gym was at a JCC, so the facilities were smaller, but it was nice and definitely an option. Then, on a friend's recommendation, I checked out my local Y. I'd been there before, but my friend told me they recently renovated the whole place, so I figured that was worth a second look. It was fabulous! Plus, I love the whole mission of the Y. Membership is more expensive than I would have liked, but I figure the money goes to an excellent cause, so I'm okay with it.

I joined as an individual for the time being, but next month my Y is going to start including tons of free activities for the kids in a family membership (basketball, floor hockey, soccer, arts and crafts, etc.), so I'm sure it won't be too tough to convince them to join me. Plus, the kids can take swimming lessons and karate at reduced rates as well. I like that it's a place for the whole family. And it's only a mile from my house, so there's absolutely no excuse not to go!

Today I'm going to a Zumba class to see how I like it. I'm very excited to take my fitness to the next level!
