Who would have thought just stepping up on a step...

...could be so taxing? So I went in and took a class in Planet Fitness's 30-Minute Circuit training. The machines were a piece of cake (the ones I could do, there are four of them I can't do with my back issues so I just have to kind of jog in place for those 60 second periods). But the step exercises that you do in between the machines dern near killed me. Definitely have to do the treadmill BEFORE I do that.

Have realized my sugar dropping is going to be a problem. It's happened both days I've gone now. I really wanted to go in the morning, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to wait till after I eat lunch. That's a bummer. And it probably also means I shouldn't go alone.

So now I'm waiting to see how doing that circuit training affects my back. If I can get through the night with no leg cramps and my back isn't giving me fits in the morning, I think I'll be ok. I am anxious to see if my weight will start to drop again now. All told I did 50 minutes of cardio exercise today.

And of all the parts of me that could POSSIBLY hurt, it's my neck! No clue why. Didn't use IT for anything. emoticon

I'm with Arch on this one. I've learned a lot about form from my trainer and she has specifically pointed out things like that. Be sure you aren't pushing yourself to do things that will hurt afterwards. I've only really hurt once the next day and that was because I discovered that I have abs and they lodged a bit of a complaint about being found. For the most part, though, nothing has been painful. I'm really proud of you, girlfriend!

Why would your neck hurt ? One thought would be your form on the machines. Did you have your head tilted down with your chin in your chest ? I see a lot of people do this. That places a strain on the neck.

Before you did the circuit, did the Planet Fitness PT show you how to use the machines ? If not, ask the PT to watch you for form. Even though you may be using a machine, you might not be using good form. Which in turn can place stress on different parts of our bodies.

Stepping between machines. Were you on an actual box they had you stepping up and down ? that could be intense if the box is too high for you.

Oh and don't be surprized if the scale goes UP. Now, don't worry, it won't be because you ate too much. it's going to be a result of water retention. When a person begins to exercise, they'll notice a slight up tick on the scale because of water retention. this is normal. the "gain" will pass in a few days. So, if the scale goes up a few pounds. DON'T WORRY.

So proud of you! (Hope that doesn't sound cheezy) It's just so great you are at the gym. Hope that you can tolerate the machines well, and I look forward to responding to your emails soon. Been a little el-nutso, but thinking things will wind down this eve. I pray, lol. I pray that your neck straightens out too, in Jesus name. Ttyl :D
