Good Start to the Day

Today I woke at 4:30am and really wanted to go back to bed. But then my gym buddy texted to say "lets get moving!" so I hauled my tail out of bed and put on some exercise clothes, drank water and drove the ten minutes to the gym. I am so glad I did as today was using the ball and Allison (gym instructor) was on a tear.

"Leave your sleepy faces behind you or go back home to your man/bed. I only want your energy in here." she said and proceed to put on some techno music ( I prefer calypso but the tempo was good) "get them steps out and put up four risers" we moving today." You should have heard the collective groan. "what! stop complaining in here," she said "my gym, my rules, so get moving." Then we proceeded to warm up and stretched the legs. "We working on some of the smaller, stabilising muscles and some thigh work" and then she asked us to jump onto the step and back off. Those of us who couldn't (like myself) were asked to step up and down. After the first 35 I checked to see if my legs were still there. "What small muscles she talking about, the big ones in my legs hurting, " I thought. When I stopped she said "wait you tired.. let we do some burpees instead." Now for sure I knew she joking because my legs done weak. "Move it D, you gotta get that bungee (buttock) in check" she said when I stopped to rest during some squats. The rest of the class continued in the same vein. She asked us to roll on the ball up to our knees and then raise one leg to use the stability muscles. (I would have loved to have tried but I still looking for them.) We did tricep dips, stomach crunches, leg push backs, squats over the benches etc. By the end of the class I was sweating in places too embarrassing to tell you but I was happy. We worked out hard, traded insults back and forth, and had a ball. When I got back home, I was so full of energy; my hubby asked what I was drinking in class. I am still on a high even now.

It is amazing how hard it is to get out of a warm bed to go and exercise but how rewarding it can be when you do. Yes I want to lose weight but the benefit of today's class went well beyond weight loss. Nothing can make me upset this day, I can do anything, ignore any one and smile all the time like I have some internal joke and energy fountain. A good start makes a great day!

PS. The oatmeal recipe I found somewhere on sparkpeople helped too! Here is my version for this morning.

Oatmeal (no cook) breakfast
1/2 cup dry roll oats
couple raisins (less than 10)
pumpkin seeds
sunflower seeds
6-8oz Almond Breeze original unsweetened (you can use soy but I don't)
cinnamon (to ur taste, I like a lot)

Put everything in a plastic bowl, cover and put in the fridge the night before (or early morning if you forget) put a plastic spoon on top.

When you are running out of the house in the morning, grab the bowl and spoon. (you can microwave for 1 minute if you like it warm) and go. Open bowl and eat.

P.S.S It is written in "mostly" English but the sentense structure reflects my dialet and accent, so English teachers out there; yes I am aware of the differences between this and standard English. I could have written it in full dialet but few would have understood it. So all ah wunna people out dey, doah matta 'part yah is, luv and peace."
