Life happens

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Today I had some kinks in my new lifestyle plan. I spent the morning at the Day/Night Clinic with my husband. (3 hours) He has an upper respiratory infection. The next 3 hours were spent at Walmart waiting for prescriptions to be filled. I arrived home at 4:15 and had to be at the clubhouse for a fajita dinner at 5:00. Breakfast was a toasted cheese sandwich and lunch was a chicken snack wrap at McDonald's. Not too bad so far, right?

Then there is the matter of the fajita dinner. I had a 1 tortilla, a little too much steak, a small amount of rice, one cup of charro beans, a small amount of chips with guacamole, and flan!! Needless to say, dinner put me over my goals! This is the first day I have gone over my caloric goal.

The good news: Hubby is feeling a little better. I walked several thousand steps at Walmart, and for today I am still down 7 pounds with a fasting blood sugar of 124.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Look at all that emoticon !! You made a good choice. You could have plop down and sat for three hours, but you spent some of it moving! That is a lifestyle change that is worth emoticon about. Dont forget to look at the total picture. YOU were aware of the things you were eating. I am sure there where times in the past you would just crammed down the food, thinking it has been a stressful day the heck with it! Awareness is important. Now you can go back and look at the ways you could have changed it! Could you have use a light bread or a low fat get the idea! One of the places I have found an easy change is when I look at cheese! I love cheese and the Cracker barrel logs are red light foods! I can eat the whole log. I dont eat most meats so I have to find protein and this can mean I find a high fat content to boot! I found kraft 2% blocks. I cut them into portions when I first bring them home. I get my protein and it brings my fat count down not to mention calories. I also loved Arnold's Breads I can have almost three slices of light bread to replace one of those! And Morning Star Meats are amazing! I can have veggie dogs with slaw and mustard and not even notice the difference! But when I log it! Wow !!!

When I first started my blood sugar was borderline out of control. Now it stays in the 80s and 90s! My blood pressure was 110 over 60 last visit to the see the Doc. Hang in there... there is hope out there!! And yes there are many days I am over my calorie count a little but I take a look at the total picture! Most time those are the days I have really moved it!! emoticon
