Knowingly doing the wrong thing

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

I have an event in a little under two weeks so I'm crash dieting. I know perfectly well that I'll more than likely gain the weight back, but I just want to fit into a nice dress. So I'm fasting. Does anyone else do this? Crash diet just for events? It's so ridiculous, and don't worry, I know that fasts don't actually detox the body or any of the other nonsensical claims made by the master cleanse advocates. But it does let you drop weight fast.

So it's day 2. And I'm feeling surprisingly good. Probably because I binged the day before I started the fast and my body is steal digesting all the deep fried tofu, smh. Went for a 5 mile walk yesterday while I still had the energy. That's another thing that sucks about fasting. I never have energy to exercise. But I'm going to attempt to go to yoga class tonight.

SW is 174.8. Which is surprising because I had a bad week, barely came on spark to track my food, didn't weigh in and didn't exercise. I was expecting to be 178-180.

I do fasting 2 days a week and 3 day a week in 15 days. It is something that I am doing it since long time. But trust me I am not happy with it. I am happy for you though that it is helping you out a lot. You also aware of the fact that it is just a temporary solution which is good thing. I wish you good luck on your journey for your event. Take care and try to have some fruits and dairy product to just keep you full and energized.

Please be aware of how you are feeling, and listen to your body, while you are fasting. Don't forget to drink enough water, broth, tea ..etc.

Short fasts are not harmful. I don't think our ancestors had three balanced meals and two snacks every day, did they?
I would think about it as a motivation booster, thinking something like that: " Ok, I've lost some pounds and some inches, let's keep it this way ".
I fast on purpose a couple of times a year out of religious reasons and also as a medicine for an upset stomach.

Doing the wrong thing for the right reason is still wrong but what is the result of your fast? Happiness at the special event. If you fast for a short term and achieve your short term goal and then continue on the path of righteousness, you have not done a wrong thing, you have availed yourself of a temporary shortcut. Sort of like taking medicine to speed the healing process. If the medicine is not illegal and it helps the process, it is good. Concern yourself not about the fasting period but the time following the fast. If you continue downward, the fast was good. If you allow yourself to bounce back up, not so much so.

    Make Today a Great Day!
