Help I've fallen and I can't get up!

Monday, February 25, 2013

It has been several years since I started and abruptly ended with Spark. I am 63 now. I am always tired. I eat emotionally. My hips hurt. I am overweight. I have no energy to exercise after a full day of work. I know deep down inside (very deep down) that losing weight and getting more exercise will help to lessen all of the above. But I am overwhelmed and looking for the magic pill or something inspirational that will start me on the way to feeling better. emoticon

I agree there is no magic pill although I looked for it for quite a while! Like some of the other suggestions above, 10 minutes of anything would really help...good luck!

My heart goes out to you in the midst of your sadness. As a nurse, I am concerned that you may be suffering from a metabolic disorder that has symptoms similar to those of depression. I urge you to see your primary care provider and tell him/her how bad you are feeling. Let us know how that appointment goes, okay?

    Warmest regards,

maybe walking when you get home would help you to lose weight. Start with 10 minutes and work your way to maybe 30 minutes a night. Don't give up emoticon we're all here for you.

Boy do I wish there was a magic pill! And I know where you are. I did nothing for so long. I cared...but not badly enough to do anything about it. first grandchild came along. I looked at that litle face and I knew I wanted to be here to meet her first child. The odds are much better if I get healthy.
I was fortunate enough that at the beginning of the year a few of us at work started a wellness competition called Game On. It's played in teams and you earn points for things you do every day toward becoming a healthier you. It only lasted 4 weeks but it was enough to get me started. The diet program in the book is a little restricitive and was tough for me to handle. I just couldn't eat 6 times a day. We were free to choose whatever diet plan we wanted as long as we stuck with it for the four weeks. My daughter told me about SparkPeople because she had used it to lose her weight a couple of years ago. I started on here the 10th of January and I haven't looked back. It hasn't been without some slip-ups, but there is always team encouragement to help. I have to say what really helped was getting involved. Blogging every day to keep me honest and checking in with a few teams that I like and reading articles that are on the site have really kept me going. Just a couple of days ago I joined SparkCoach. That might be a place for you to start. It's motivatiing and it holds you accountable. And personally, I love to watch my points climb! It sounds silly, but it's a challenge.
You just have to make a decision and decide you are worth the time and effort it takes. There is a team on here for Plus Size Exercising. Being close to 300, there's a lot of things I can't do. But there ARE some things I can do to just get moving. And if all you can commit to is 10 minutes a day to start with, hey!! that's better that nothing. And anyone can get moving for 10 minutes. Even me! I bet even you.
My prayers are with you. I hope you decide you are worth it!
