Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, all!!!

First of all, I have to say that I am absolutely heartbroken over the loss of Tara. Over the last oh... 6-8 months we got pretty close here on Spark and I will miss her so much. After reading that she had passed away I couldn't help but shed several tears. She was such a wonderful woman and will be missed by so many here on Spark, and the people her knew her outside of Spark.

On to Saturday - Scott and I FINALLY got out for a long run together. We still only got in 6.75 miles - and it was a weird run. I was fine - great, actually - but Scott was really struggling. Since he was having a hard time I turned us around... Then he got his stride and I lost mine!! I had a hard time the last 1/2 of the run and since I couldn't get my Map My Run app to work, I didn't know how far we'd gone. So, when I got home I mapped it out - and was pretty bummed about being below 7 miles. But we did it. Now we have to really see what we are made of and get in that full 15k!! We already agreed that we wouldn't worry about running together since we obviously have different running strategies.

After the run we took the kids to Trampoline Nation to celebrate the youngest's birthday. It was really pretty cool! Lots of trampolines, places for basketball and dodge ball, a place for flips and a trampoline "half-pipe". We had a great time! I can still do front and back handsprings like I could YEARS ago! But an hour of trampoline jumping AFTER a 7 mile run is exhausting!! We were both ready to pass out by 8pm.

I didn't sleep very well last night - not sure why. But I woke up this morning debating going to the gym... once I found that I didn't have any clean workout pants I scrapped the gym for today. I'm okay with it because we did so much on Saturday and we have a big weekend coming up. I will get back tomorrow thru Thursday and get in 2 ST workouts and 1 easy cardio.

I will need to come up with a cardio plan for after the race. Part of coming up with that plan will be getting to the doctor to get my foot looked at. My other foot is hurting after this long run, so I must have some issues. I will go back to my old shoes for the race, I tried the new ones on Saturday but feel like the others might do better.

So, that was the weekend and my plan for this week. Once I see the doctor about my feet I will have a better idea of my cardio plan from here on out and if I will continue doing a lot of running.

How was everyone else's weekend?? Did you work towards your goals??

Tara will definitely be missed. She was such a wonderful person. So sad!

Did you go to the Trampoline nation in Federal Way? I really want to go (I want to play laser tag really bad too). That is cool about the flips. I think I would flop, but that's OK....still fun :)

Way to go on the run. You two will do great this weekend. It will be interesting to see what the dr. says about your feet when you get in for a visit, and how the shoes do too. I'll be rooting you on Lynsey!

I was so very sorry to hear about the loss of Tara. Maybe we can do some challenges, or something, in her honor in March?

My weekend was not really on target - I spent most of Friday and Sunday in the car so my exercise was fairly limited and I didn't make the healthiest of food choices either. I'm definitely ready for a new month to start so that I can refocus and put February behind me!

Sorry to hear about your foot - hope the doctor's visit pays off.

You had a awesomely active Saturday! The trampoline place sounds really cool.

6.75 miles is nothing to sneeze about, that's a great distance. You'll get to 15k soon!

Tara will absolutely be missed. She was one of the brightest souls we had on Spark.

Sounds like you guys had fun at the trampoline place!

The husband had to work all weekend, so I stayed home hanging out with the kids all weekend. I did my workouts and treadmill run, and went to the kiddo's last basketball game... and that was IT the entire weekend.

    Good luck at your race!
